Just realized my bean strategy was all wrong for years

I used to buy canned beans for every chili, thinking it saved time. That changed about 6 months ago when I saw a bag of dry beans cost 89 cents versus a $1.29 can. Now I soak a big batch overnight and freeze portions. It adds maybe 20 minutes of actual work and cuts my cost in half. Has anyone else made a switch like this that seemed small but really added up?

a few extra minutes" adds up though. My time after work is worth more than saving a dollar on cheese. That pre-shredded bag gets dinner on the table faster when I'm already tired.

My mom always bought those pre-shredded cheese bags. The texture is weird, like it's coated in sawdust. I started buying blocks and grating it myself for tacos. It's cheaper and melts so much better, just a few extra minutes with the box grater.

The anti-caking stuff on the pre-shredded can mess with how it melts. Makes it kinda grainy sometimes.
