My mom's tip about bulk rice saved me $40 this month
My mom kept telling me to stop buying those little 2lb bags of rice at the grocery store and get the 20lb bag at the Asian market instead. I finally listened last month and picked one up for $12. That same amount of rice would have cost me $50 in those smaller packages. I've already cooked through half of it making stir fries and burrito bowls for dinner. The best part is I don't have to run to the store every week for rice now. Has anyone else had a similar win switching to a different store for basics?

My friend Sarah had the exact same thing happen but with oatmeal. She used to buy those little instant packets from the regular store for breakfast. They were like $4 for a box of 8 packets. Then her sister told her to go to the bulk bins at the health food store and get a big bag of rolled oats for $3. That bag lasted her almost two months. She just microwaves it with some milk and cinnamon now and says it tastes way better than the instant stuff. She was mad at herself for not doing it sooner.

Honestly, I used to think instant oatmeal was the only way to go because it was so convenient. But hearing stories like this really makes me want to give the bulk oats a try.
