Hostel loyalty programs vs skipping them entirely
I keep seeing people brag about their hostel loyalty points. But in Berlin last month I paid 12 euros a night at a no-chain hostel. The HI hostel next door was 28 euros. Why would I lock into one group when independent places are half the price and usually better? Which side are you on?

That shower line got me, honestly I was team loyalty until now.

Had the exact same thing happen in Prague last summer. Paid 10 euros a night at a little family run place with no website, just a sign. The HI place wanted 25 euros and had a 30 minute wait for the bathroom in the morning. I don't get the hype about loyalty points when you can just walk into any random hostel and get a better deal. Plus those independent places usually have more character and the owners actually care if you're having a good time. Seems like loyalty programs are just a way to make you feel trapped into paying more for the same bed.
