Remember when you could get a hostel room for $10 in Paris?
I was in Paris back in 2005 and paid 10 euros a night for a dorm bed near Montmartre, now the same bunk is like 45 bucks. Anyone else feel like budget travel just doesn't hit the same way it used to lol?

Man that 10 euro Paris hostel era was something else lol. Honestly the trick now is to look at hostels that are a bit further from the center or just outside the main tourist zones. I stayed at a place near the 18th arrondissement last year for 28 euros a night, shared bathroom but was clean enough. Also, booking direct through the hostel's own website sometimes gives you a discount or free breakfast, you just gotta dig around for it. Another thing is traveling in the off season like November or February, prices drop hard. It's not the same as 2005 but you can still find deals if you're willing to hunt a little.
