My neighbor handed me $20 at the bus stop and said 'this is for that coffee you always skip'

I told her about cutting out my daily $5 cafe run to save for a trip, and she just stuck a bill in my hand before I could even argue. Has anyone else had a random person encourage your budgeting in a weirdly specific way?

Oh wow, that's so sweet of her! My friend Jenny had something kind of like that happen... she was at the grocery store counting out change for a loaf of bread and this older lady just walked up and put a $10 bill in her cart. Said she remembered what it was like being a young mom scraping by. Jenny tried to give it back but the lady just walked away smiling. She told me later she cried in the parking lot because it wasn't even about the money, it was the fact that someone actually saw her struggling and cared enough to help without making it weird. Stuff like that restores your faith in people, you know?

Man, that's awesome. @the_margaret hit it right - sometimes it's just nice to be seen like that. Makes the whole budgeting thing feel less lonely.
