Used to hate tracking every dollar but a 3-month trial changed my mind

I tried YNAB for 3 months after my buddy kept pushing it and saw my eating out budget drop from $400 to $180 a month. Seeing the numbers in real time made it click for me. Anyone else have a budgeting tool that finally worked after you thought it wouldn't?

Started tracking my coffee spending and realized I was funding a small country's GDP with oat milk lattes. Now I brew at home and feel both richer and slightly sadder.

@casey16 same thing happened to me with takeout. I cut it cold turkey for a month and ended up saving like $150, enough to buy a decent blender and actually learn to make my own smoothies. The trick is replacing the habit instead of just killing it. I started meal prepping on Sundays and it fixed the whole "I'm too tired to cook" excuse. Just gotta find your own cheaper substitute that doesn't make you feel like you're missing out.
