My friend told me my weekly spread was way too busy and I got defensive at first

She looked at my May spread with all these color coded habit trackers and tiny doodles in every corner and said it looked like a ransom note. Harsh but fair. I cut down to just 3 trackers and left blank space around tasks. Now I actually finish my weekly layout in 10 minutes instead of an hour. Has anyone else had someone point out their journal looks cluttered and it made them rethink everything?

Kinda wonder if it's really that deep though... I mean it's your journal, not a professional portfolio. My cousin told me my monthly spread was "visually aggressive" and I just shrugged and kept the doodles because they make me happy. Who cares if it takes an hour if you enjoy doing it?

Our 5 year old gave me a "sticker bomb" for my birthday and now its all over my work journal. Took forever to do but every time I flip past it I smile. If it brings you joy who cares if it looks like a craft store exploded on it.

Oh man, @lily_singh2, you're speaking my language! I'm pretty sure my journal looks like a glitter bomb went off in a kindergarten classroom, but you know what? It's mine. I have to admit, I once spent an hour and a half adding teeny tiny hand-drawn stars around a grocery list entry, and I didn't even buy anything exciting that week. My cousin called my habit "visually aggressive" too, and I told him that's the whole point - my happy place doesn't need to be minimalist approved. Honestly, if I'm going to spend that much time on something, it might as well make me grin like an idiot every time I look at it. So keep those doodles and tell your cousin to mind his own visually quiet business, haha.
