Shoutout to the simple weekly layout over those fancy monthly spreads

I spent all of last year doing these elaborate monthly calendar pages with washi tape and color coding. Looked great on Instagram but I never actually used them. Then last month I tried a basic weekly spread with just a list of days down the side and a section for tasks. It's been way more useful because I actually fill it out every day instead of feeling pressured to make it pretty. Anyone else find that simpler layouts work better for staying consistent?

People act like picking a planner layout is some life changing decision. It's a notebook with dates, not a career path. If you need a simpler layout to actually write things down, good for you, but this whole "I had an epiphany about my calendar" thing is a bit much. Instagram made everyone think they need a full art project to manage their laundry and dentist appointments. Maybe just use the back of an envelope and move on with your day.

Just scribble on a sticky note and call it done.

Ngl, I get what you're saying but I think you're dismissing something that genuinely helps people. The whole process of setting up a layout you actually look forward to using isn't about Instagram clout for everyone. Some of us need the visual structure to stay on track, same way some people need a to-do list app with notifications. It's not really about fancy vs simple, it's about finding what your brain actually responds to. If a basic layout clicks with you, cool, but that doesn't mean people who put effort into their setup are just wasting time for show.
