I finally hit 50 custom drawer boxes without a single reject lol
Been building custom drawer boxes for about 8 months now and I just finished 50 in a row with no returns or do-overs. That surprised me honestly because my first 10 had like 3 that were off by a millimeter or two. I started double checking every measurement with a digital caliper after my third reject and it made a huge difference. What kind of quality checks do you guys do to keep your reject rate low?

Oh come on, it's drawer boxes not heart surgery. Is a millimeter or two really going to ruin someone's kitchen? I bet half those "perfect" boxes still have some tiny flaw you just didn't catch.

Julia Lee you've clearly never had to shim a drawer front for two hours because the box was twisted by 1.5mm. Once you get gaps on one side and binding on the other it's not about perfectionism, it's about the thing working smoothly for the next ten years. I keep a cheap digital caliper in my apron and check every box before install because one bad one wastes more time than measuring ever will. That said, you're right that nobody's staring at cabinets with a ruler, but movement over time makes those tiny errors turn into real headaches.
