Waterproof labels can really let you down at the worst times. My hiking jacket did the same thing in a storm last fall, got completely useless. I wasted money on those easy spray cans that wear off after one wash. What actually worked was cleaning it with a special soap and putting on a new waterproof layer with a dryer cycle. You have to be patient and follow the steps exactly for it to stick. Good gear care is what keeps you dry, not the marketing.
