My timing belt snapped on the highway last Tuesday
I was cruising at 65 on I-35 when the engine just died, no warning lights or weird noises before it happened. Cost me $2,800 for a new engine since the valves got destroyed. Has anyone here ever caught a timing belt issue before it let go?

Right? "No warning lights or weird noises" is exactly what scares me the most about timing belts. Mine went on my old Honda with zero signs too, just a sudden dead engine on the interstate. I think most people don't realize how common that is. I've started replacing them at the recommended mileage PLUS 10k miles early just to be safe. $2,800 is a TOUGH pill to swallow but at least you're back on the road now.

@amy_murphy85 I used to think timing belts were overhyped until mine snapped on a Toyota.
