Old school framing hammer vs the fancy titanium one I bought off the truck

Man, you paid truck prices for a titanium hammer? Those truck guys must have seen you coming from a mile away. I borrowed a buddy's titanium framing hammer once and it felt weird, like swinging a toy. My old Estwing with the leather grip has put in 15 years of work and still nails it every time. Guess I just don't get the hype.

I get where you're coming from, Robin. A good Estwing is a workhorse and there's nothing wrong with sticking with what works. But I think there's a place for the titanium hammers if you swing a framing nailer all day long. The weight difference really adds up over a full week of work, and less fatigue means cleaner swings at the end of the day. It is a lot of money up front, though, no argument there. I guess for me it's less about hype and more about saving my joints for the long haul.
