Spent $400 on a power stretcher and it paid for itself in two weeks
I always rented them before, you know, figuring why buy when I can rent for $40 a day. But after my third rental in a month I did the math. The rental fees added up fast plus the hassle of driving to the store and back. Bought a used one off Craigslist for $400 and now I just have it in the truck ready to go. Already used it on 4 jobs so basically it's free now. Anybody else buy something they were scared to splurge on and it worked out?

Bought a nice nail gun once and was terrified I'd never use it enough. Three days later I accidentally stapled my own shoelace to the floor. Worth every penny.

Caleb that shoelace story had me laughing, I've definitely had similar moments where an expensive tool became a hazard. I mean, once you get past the mental block of the price tag, it's like the universe just hands you jobs to validate the purchase. Happened with my planer too, bought it on a whim and suddenly everyone needed their doors and shelves planed down.
