Vent: That commercial job I took in Cleveland last month was a nightmare
An old timer told me to always double check the pad spec before unloading the truck, but I figured I knew the brand well enough. Turns out the customer swapped in a denser pad at the last minute and my seams ended up showing through. Is there a quick way to check pad density on site without pulling out the whole roll?

Pull out a small sample from the edge of the roll and do the squeeze test. Take a quarter sized piece between your thumb and forefinger and press hard. A standard pad will squish down to maybe half its thickness. A high density pad barely gives at all. Your mileage may vary depending on the brand but Ive found it's a decent quick check. Also look at the label on the roll wrapper if the customer didnt peel it off. Sometimes they leave it on and you can spot the density rating right there.

Damn @miles946 that squeeze test is actually clutch, never thought of that one.
