My neighbor called me out for putting all my recycling in one bin. Said it just gets trashed at the sorting center if it's not separated.

Wait, what? They told you it all gets trashed? That's wild because my whole city switched to single-stream recycling years ago. The trucks have one compartment, and the facility has machines and people to sort it. Are you guys still living with those little blue bins for glass and green ones for paper? That feels so 2005.

Remember my buddy who works at the sorting plant? He said half the single-stream stuff is too dirty or wrong and just gets dumped. Makes you wonder if the blue bin system was better.

Honestly, the real problem is they never taught people how to recycle right in the first place. Better bins won't fix that.
