Stumbled on a stat that blew my mind about home energy
I was reading a report from the Rocky Mountain Institute earlier this week. Turns out, if every US household swapped to heat pumps, we could cut national carbon emissions by about 580 million metric tons a year. That is roughly the same as taking all the cars off the road in the country for 12 months. I had no idea one appliance change could pack that big a punch. I double checked the numbers with the DOE site and they line up. Has anyone here actually made the switch to a heat pump and seen a real difference on their utility bill?

I feel you on that stat, it really makes you rethink what's possible with home energy.

Did you ever look at those big solar setups and think they were just for rich folks or off-grid types? Because I honestly thought the same thing for the longest time. But seeing that stat about how much power a regular house can actually store now really shook me. I mean, I used to think it was all hype, but the numbers are pretty hard to argue with. It kinda makes me wonder if I should start looking into it more seriously, you know? Maybe this whole home energy thing is way more doable than I ever gave it credit for.

Yeah its wild how fast tech drops in price once it goes mainstream like that.
