Why I stopped using Notepad for Python scripts after 8 months

I used to write all my beginner Python code in Notepad and then paste it into an online compiler, which broke every time I had a missing bracket, until my friend saw me doing it last Thursday and laughed for a solid minute before showing me how to use VS Code, has anyone else been that stubborn about their tools?

That friend laughing for a solid minute is funny but honestly not cool - we all start somewhere. What specifically made you stick with Notepad for eight months though? Was it just not knowing better or did you have some weird loyalty to keeping things simple?
