I bought a $200 'precision' coffee scale that was a total letdown

Honestly, I saw all the hype about needing super exact measurements and got the Acaia Pearl thinking it would change my pour over game. Ngl, after six months of use, I can't tell any difference from my old $20 kitchen scale, and the app is more annoying than helpful. Has anyone else felt like the super expensive gear is just not worth it for home brewing?

Yeah, it's just coffee at the end of the day, not rocket science.

My friend runs a small roastery and the science behind bean density and water temperature is pretty complex. It takes real skill to pull a perfect shot consistently. Calling it just coffee feels like it misses the point of the craft.
