I finally saw what 2 years of using a French press did to my morning routine

Used to be a pour-over guy, then switched to a French press about 2 years ago because my buddy in Austin swore by it. Yesterday morning I realized I haven't had a single rushed, messy coffee spill since I made the switch. With pour-over I was always burning my hand or dripping water everywhere. French press is just dump grounds in, pour water, wait, press. Did anyone else find their setup changed their whole morning vibe after a while?

My French press mornings are actually more rushed since I always have to clean the metal filter.

Oh, I know exactly what you mean. It's funny how the things we think will save us time actually end up taking more. I've noticed this pattern everywhere now, not just in the kitchen. People buy a fancy gadget or a new tool to speed something up, and then suddenly they're spending half their time cleaning, charging, or figuring it out. It's like we traded a five minute task for a fifteen minute process that looks nicer on Instagram. I guess sometimes the old ways are simpler for a reason, even if they're not as fun to show off.
