Had a fish try to steal my wrench during a bridge inspection in Mobile

We were working on the underwater pilings last fall, and I set my 10-inch adjustable wrench on a ledge for a second. This big sheepshead fish, must have been 15 pounds, swam right up and grabbed it in its mouth like a toy. It started swimming off with my tool, and I had to chase the thing for like 20 feet before it finally dropped it. Has anyone else had a local wildlife crew try to 'borrow' your gear?

Wait, it actually swam off with it? I've seen fish mess with stuff but never carry a wrench away. That's some serious dedication to theft right there.

dude you gotta think about the long game here. that fish probly watched the contractor drop it and waited. animals are way smarter than we give them credit for i saw a video of an octopus stealing a camera and swimming away with it like it was nothing. maybe that fish is building an underwater shed or something lol. but for real if i was that guy id be checking the bottom of the lake every time i came back. tools are expensive man.
