My $700 power trowel blades died after a 4,000 sq ft pour in Austin

Hit a patch of hard aggregate left by the ready-mix truck and the fins sheared clean off mid-pass, so I had to hand float the whole garage with a mag before the sun baked it, has anyone else switched to diamond blades for residential work?

Tbh, that exact thing happened to me last spring on a driveway pour. The ready-mix sent a load with some crushed rock that was way too big and the fins just snapped like twigs. I switched to diamond blades right after that and honestly it felt like a different machine, they cut through the hard stuff without stalling. The catch is they run a bit slower and you gotta watch your finish timing, but for me it beats hand floating an entire slab in the heat. The dust is worse too, so wear a good mask if you try it. Ngl, I kept a spare set of steel blades in the truck just in case, but I haven't needed them since.
