My bull float handle snapped clean off during a big pour in Denver last Thursday.

It was a 40-yard slab for a garage floor, and the replacement handle I grabbed from my truck was a cheap one from a big box store. What's a good brand for a tough, one-piece handle that won't let me down like that again?

Marshalltown handles are solid one-piece steel.

Snapped clean off during a big pour, that's the worst. Ryanburns is right about Marshalltown being solid steel, but check the connection point too. A one-piece handle is good, but a bad thread on the float head can still strip out. Seen guys weld a small bead on the float head threads for extra bite. Saves the whole tool when you're in the middle of a slab.

Three years back I had a bull float head strip out on me right as the sun was hitting a fresh garage slab. That moment taught me more about thread care than any manual ever could. @ryanburns is spot on about the one-piece handles being tough as nails, but I learned the hard way that the threads are the real weak link. It took me two tries to get that weld bead right on the float head, but now I do it to every new one I buy. I aint the sharpest tool in the shed but at least my float handle wont snap off mid pour anymore.
