Swapped my steel trowel for a magnesium one about a year back
I used to think heavier steel gave me better control on flat slabs, but my wrist was shot after every 8 hour pour. Picked up a 36 inch magnesium float from a crew out of Denver and the weight difference let me finish a whole driveway without stopping. Anyone else notice a change in their arm fatigue after switching float materials?

@the_tessa I heard magnesium actually dampens vibration better than steel, too.

Honestly that wrist fatigue from steel floats is brutal, glad the magnesium helped you out too.

Oh man, that's wild you mention the wrist fatigue. My buddy Dave switched to a magnesium float last summer and he told me his forearm didn't feel like it was on fire after a big slab pour. He said the lighter float made it easier to keep a consistent touch on the surface. @the_evan mentioned the vibration thing too, Dave said he noticed way less chatter in his hand when he was working a big floor.
