My friend caught me crushing Saltines into my chili and nearly cried about it

I was at lunch with my buddy Dave at a diner near Nashville last month. He saw me crush a stack of saltine crackers into my chili and said I was "ruining a perfectly good bowl." I told him the texture is the whole point, like croutons on soup but way better. He still brings it up every time we text. Anyone else got a food habit that made a friend genuinely mad?

Ngl, I'd tell Dave to try the saltine move before passing judgment. It's like getting mad at someone for putting ketchup on a hot dog, some battles just aren't worth fighting. Honestly, if he's still texting about it a month later, he needs a new hobby. Maybe offer to crush his crackers for him next time, see if he calms down. People act like a little crunch is gonna ruin their whole day, it's just chili, not a Michelin star meal.

Croutons on soup is actually a solid comparison, but saltines in chili is more like a topping that just soaks up the juice. Your friend needs to relax, it's still the same chili.

WAIT hold on - @olivia_allen, did you just say a friend got genuinely UPSET about saltines in chili? That is WILD to me. My grandma used to crumble like a full sleeve of saltines into her chili and nobody batted an eye, it was practically a RITUAL. If texture is the issue, just crush them finer and stir it in, problem solved.
