I used to mix my own developer for color corrections, but a client in Seattle had a bad reaction.

For years I blended 20 and 30 volume to get a custom 25, thinking it gave more control on resistant gray. Last month a regular client's scalp got red and itchy after a root touch-up, and her dermatologist said the homemade mix was likely unstable. Has anyone else moved to pre-mixed formulas from the manufacturer for safety reasons?

@the_jenny pre-mixed developer keeps those reactions away, plus it's just easier.

It's scary how often DIY solutions backfire in unexpected ways, isn't it?

Tell me about it, @the_jenny, my last DIY project is why I own three fire extinguishers now.
