I used to think a blowout was just a blowout until I worked at that high-end salon in Scottsdale.

For years, I'd just blast hair with high heat and a round brush, aiming for speed over anything else. Then I saw the lead stylist there take 45 minutes on a single client, using tension, a boar bristle brush, and cool shots at the end. The shine and bounce lasted a full week, not two days. Who else has had a technique shift that made you slow down for a better result?

Wait, you used to just blast hair with high heat for speed? That's wild to me. I can't imagine not using any tension at all. My hair would be a frizzy mess in like an hour. The cool shot thing is a total game changer though, it actually seals the cuticle. Makes total sense why the style lasted a whole week for them.

Ever tried that cool shot trick on curly hair?

Honestly, the right brush matters more than the dryer.
