Just realized a round brush makes a huge difference vs a paddle brush for volume

I always used a paddle brush for blow drying because it's what I learned with in beauty school. Last week I grabbed a round brush on a whim for a client with fine hair who wanted volume. The difference was crazy - her roots actually lifted and the style held way longer. Has anyone else had a tool swap that changed how you work?

Paddle brushes still give me way better control for smoothing.

Totally agree with you on paddle brushes. I was doing my girlfriend's hair the other day and a round brush just kept slipping and making a mess. Soon as I grabbed my old paddle brush, everything laid flat and smooth in like half the time. Plus I find it way easier to get those ends to flip just right without fighting the brush the whole time. You ever try a vented paddle brush for quicker drying?

Yeah I gotta push back on this one. Vented brushes always snag on my hair and leave dents that take forever to smooth out, plus the air flow never dries my roots fast enough to justify the hassle. @caleb_thomas93 nailed it with control being key, even if I end up taking an extra few minutes with a regular paddle brush to get the finish right. Round brushes have their place for volume but paddle brushes just win for straight results.
