Tried that $50 color-depositing mask and my hair turned orange for 3 weeks

I bought a highly recommended purple mask from a beauty supply store in Austin last month. Figured it would be a quick fix for my brassiness between salon visits. Left it on for 10 minutes like the bottle said and walked out looking like a pumpkin spice nightmare. Had to use a clarifying shampoo 4 times and still couldn't fully fix it. Has anyone else had a color-depositing product straight up betray them like that?

Wait, you left it on for only TEN minutes and it still turned you into a pumpkin? That is CRAZY. I left that same kind of mask on for barely five minutes once and my hair came out looking like a bruised banana. @the_john you dodged a bullet not trying this stuff yet, seriously. These purple masks are basically a SCAM unless you want to look like a cartoon character for a month. I had to wash my hair with dish soap and then a cheap clarifying shampoo like eight times before it even faded to a weird yellow. Some of these products just don't come off no matter what you do. I swear they bond to your hair like permanent dye.

Oh no, that sounds like a total nightmare! I feel your pain, the same thing happened to me with a "silver" shampoo that turned my hair purple for weeks.

@lisak26 did you ever find a good shampoo that actually works without ruining your hair?

Yeah, purple hair club. Not exactly the look I was going for. Took about three weeks of washing with regular stuff to get it back to normal.
