Found a stat about reused passwords that freaked me out

I was reading some report from a security firm called SpyCloud and they said 70% of people reuse passwords across accounts. That number seemed high but then I remembered I do it too for like 10 different sites. It got me thinking how easy it must be for hackers to just grab one login and try it everywhere. I checked my own stuff and found my email password was the same as my old gaming forum login from 2015. Have any of you actually counted how many times you reuse the same password?

Honestly a friend of mine got hacked that exact way last year.

Wait seriously? That exact scam? Wild. The creepy part is how real those texts look now. They clone the whole contact history. Might even use your actual name. My buddy's dad lost like 800 bucks that way. Took the bank months to sort it out. People need to see this stuff before it happens to them too.

@jenny_coleman "That exact way" meaning the cloned text with the full contact history? Because yeah, that's next level creepy. My cousin got one that looked like it was from his own mom asking for gift cards for a "family emergency." He fell for it too, sent 200 bucks before he realized. Now he double checks any weird money request by actually calling the person, even if it feels awkward.
