A client told me my character art had 'same face syndrome' and it stung, but they were right.
I was showing off a new set of fantasy portraits, and someone pointed out all five characters had the same nose and jaw shape. I looked back at my old work and saw it too. Now I keep a folder of real face reference photos open while I sketch, and I actively try to change up the bone structure for each new person. Has a piece of specific feedback ever made you change a core part of your process?

Oh man, that hits home. I used to write short stories where every character talked in the same sarcastic voice (which was basically just my voice, ha). A friend finally said they all sounded like me making jokes, not real people. Now I keep little voice notes for each character, like "this one uses short sentences" or "this one never gets to the point.
