Spent $800 on a Google Ads campaign for my landscaping business last spring
I figured I'd get a ton of leads for my Denver lawn care company, but after two months I only got one phone call that was a wrong number. Turns out I didn't set up location targeting right and my ads were showing to people in Florida. Has anyone else had a similar experience with ad targeting gone sideways?

Yeah I totally used to think Google was the only way but this is making me reconsider Nextdoor honestly.

Gave up on Google Ads after a similar mess and tried Nextdoor instead for my little side gig doing yard cleanups. Targeted just my zip code and a couple neighboring ones, spent $150 total over a month. Got four solid leads from that, three turned into regular customers. The trick was using a photo of my actual work not a stock image, and mentioning I was a local neighbor. Way cheaper than $800 and way more direct hits.

So did you notice a big difference in the kind of people reaching out on Nextdoor versus Google - like more folks who actually live nearby and want repeat work?
