I finally noticed a real shift in how people find work spots in Chiang Mai
A couple years back, everyone just went to the same three cafes near the old city. Now, my feed is full of people sharing quiet, cheap spots in neighborhoods like Santitham, found through local Facebook groups. Has anyone else seen this kind of change in their main city?

Isn't it also about how people find these places now? It used to be just word of mouth or walking by. Now, it's all these hyper-local online groups where someone will post a photo of a quiet table in a random shop house cafe. You find spots you'd never just stumble on, like a tiny garden place behind a mechanic's shop. The whole discovery process feels different.

That bit about finding a garden behind a mechanic's shop is exactly it. But when you find a place that way, does it feel like your own discovery or just following a map? I wonder if knowing a spot is already known and posted about takes some of the magic out of it. The surprise of turning a corner and finding something is gone. You're just completing a task someone else set.

Ngl, "following a map" is exactly what it feels like. Honestly half the time I'm just looking for the bathroom, not a secret garden.
