Paid $300 for a tile wet saw that died after three bathroom floors

Burned me hard because the motor seized on the fourth cut of a backsplash and the rental place wouldn't take it back, has anyone else had a tool fail right after the warranty ran out?

Did the motor just lock up out of nowhere or did it start smoking first? Man that sucks I had a similar thing happen with a chop saw I bought for a deck job. Lasted through one weekend of work then the blade started wobbling like crazy on the second use. Took it back to the store and they said tough luck because I was past the 30 day return window. Felt like I paid $250 to borrow a tool for exactly one project. Now I just rent the big stuff from a local place that actually stands behind their equipment because cheap new tools are a gamble I dont want to take anymore. What do you plan on getting to replace it?

You really gotta watch those cheap saws man. The bearings are always the first thing to go because they skimp on the quality. Next time grab something with sealed bearings if you can find it, or at least check the motor vents for any metal dust before you even take it home. Returning stuff past 30 days is a nightmare, I learned that the hard way with a belt sander that lasted exactly two hours. If you have a Harbor Freight nearby their warranty is actually decent on the higher end stuff, just keep the receipt in the toolbox not your wallet lol.

Man that's exactly what happened to me with a circular saw a few years back... worked great for one Saturday cutting deck boards then just started screeching and smoking on the second use. Took it apart and the bearings were completely shot, like metal shavings everywhere. Store wouldn't touch it either since I'd thrown the receipt away like an idiot. I'm done buying cheap versions of tools I actually need to work... rather spend the extra money on something from a proper brand that'll last more than a weekend.
