Visiting my aunt in Phoenix made me see door hinges differently

I was helping her move some furniture last month and noticed every interior door in her house was super quiet. I asked about it, and she showed me how she puts a tiny dab of clear silicone grease on the hinge pins once a year. She said the dry air out there makes everything squeak, so she got in the habit. I tried it on my own front door back home (which has been annoying me for ages) and it's been silent for three weeks now. Has anyone else found a simple fix like this for a common house noise?

Oh wow, that's such a good tip! I'm totally trying that on my bathroom door this weekend. It got me thinking, what about other noises? Like, my kitchen cabinet doors make this awful click when they close. I stuck a little piece of that fuzzy side of a velcro strip on the frame where they hit. It's not pretty but you can't see it and now they're quiet. What kind of noises are you still dealing with?
