Threw $400 at a digital level and it died after 3 jobs
Bought a fancy digital level from Home Depot thinking it would speed up my layout work. The screen went blank on the third framing job in Dallas. Anyone else stick with bubble levels or find a digital brand that actually lasts?

Funny you mention that, my brother in law swears by those digital levels but he's also the guy who bought a laser tape measure that died after two drops off a ladder. Kinda makes you wonder if these fancy tools are built for actual work or just for YouTube reviews. My old Stabila bubble level has been through rain, mud, and a couple of roof falls and it still reads true. Sometimes the old stuff just handles real life better.

Actually a Stabila bubble level is a solid choice but the newer ones aren't quite the same as the old ones. I had one from like 2007 that finally cracked after I dropped it off a 2 story roof into concrete. But my buddy's 2019 model lost its vial accuracy after sitting in a hot truck all summer. The plastic housing warped just enough to throw the bubble off. So it's not just the digital tools that have gotten cheaper, the old school stuff has cut corners too. Might be worth checking your level against a known flat surface to see if it's still dead on.
