That day on the Mobile River when the pump clogged with oyster shells
We were pulling up a ton of material, maybe 200 cubic yards, when the whole thing just stopped dead. Turns out a whole bed of old oyster shells got sucked in and jammed the impeller solid. Had to shut down for six hours to pull it apart and clear it by hand, which killed our schedule. Anyone else ever hit a patch of shells that bad?

Six hours seems like a long shutdown for a clog. Was the impeller actually damaged, or just packed full? Sometimes you can rod out the intake without a full teardown.

We got lucky and just had to clear the intake line, the impeller was fine. Took us maybe an hour total lol.

Feel for you, that's a brutal shutdown time. Glad it wasn't worse though.
