Finally figured out the trick to pulling wire through tight conduit runs

Been fighting with a 100-foot run of 1-inch EMT for a week, kept getting stuck about 30 feet in. Tried lube, tried a fishtape, even tried a vacuum. Yesterday my old timer coworker told me to use a shop vac with a rag stuffed around the pull string at the far end to create a seal. Pulled the whole bundle of 3 10-gauge THHN through in about 10 minutes flat. Can't believe I wasted all that time when the solution was that simple. Anyone else got a weird trick for stubborn pulls?

Hold up, wait a minute. @felixfisher, you're telling me you knew about the rag trick for a whole year and just let me chew through a week of my life fighting that 100 foot run? That's cold, man. I could have saved myself three trips to the hardware store and a whole lot of cussing if someone had just whispered that tip sooner. The vacuum thing alone cost me an hour of messing around before I gave up on it. Now I'm sitting here wondering how many other simple solutions I'm missing out on because nobody wants to share the good stuff. At least I know the trick now for the next time.

Started using that rag trick last year on a 50 foot run and kicked myself for not thinking of it earlier. Works way better than all the fancy tools I bought trying to solve the same problem.
