My uncle insisted a $3 tube of thermal paste was just as good as the fancy stuff for a PS4 repaste.
After the console overheated and shut down within a month, I had to redo the whole job with a proper compound, so has anyone else had a cheap paste fail spectacularly on them?

That cheap paste can dry out way faster than the good stuff.

Ugh, that's rough. Been there with a cheap paste on an old laptop. It just turned to dust in like six weeks.
