Found a cheap way to test landing page copy without spending on ads

I was stuck trying to pick between two headlines for a B2B software page, but running A/B tests through Google Ads was burning like $200 a week just to get enough traffic. So I tried sending both versions to a small list of 50 existing customers via plain email and asked them to click the one they liked better. It took like two days and gave me a clear winner with zero ad spend. Has anyone else used customer lists to cheap out on copy testing?

Oh man, I used to think you needed paid traffic to get any real answers. But this totally changed my mind, it's so obvious now that your existing customers are right there and willing to help. Sending them a quick email is way smarter than burning cash on ads for something so basic.

Oh totally, "it's so obvious now" is exactly how I felt too. I mean, I tried something kind of similar last year for a completely different reason. I was testing email subject lines for a newsletter and kept obsessing over open rates from random people. Then I just asked like 30 friends and family which subject line made them want to click. It was way faster and honestly more honest feedback because they had no reason to lie. The funny thing is, one of the subject lines I thought was a total winner got zero love from real people, so I dodged a bullet there. Anyway, your way definitely beats paying Google for their traffic when you already have a built in audience. Maybe it's just me but I think customers like being asked for their opinion too, makes them feel important or whatever.
