I noticed our email open rates tanked after we switched platforms at work
We moved from Mailchimp to HubSpot about 4 months ago, and I swear our open rates dropped from 22% to like 14% almost overnight. I think it's because we lost all that sender reputation we built up over 2 years. Has anyone else seen a dip after migrating email platforms, or is it just our list going stale? Did you eventually recover the rates?

and nobody's even mentioned the tracking pixel issue yet lol. When you switch platforms, the tracking pixels get completely rebuilt and ISPs treat them differently. HubSpot doesn't use the same image hosting infrastructure as Mailchimp, so some email clients flag those new pixels as suspicious until they build trust. Plus there's a chance your new platform is caching open data differently or counting opens in a stricter way. I'd check if HubSpot's definition of an "open" matches what Mailchimp was using because sometimes they exclude bot opens and that alone can drop your numbers by 30%. Might not be your list at all, just the way the new system measures things.

Wait, so HubSpot might be counting opens differently? That's wild. I never even thought about that but it makes total sense. Our team saw the same drop and we've been blaming everything from subject lines to send times for months. Maybe we should look at the raw data instead of just panicking.

Saw my buddy lose 25% of his open rate overnight after switching platforms.
