I tried a new peel on a client with rosacea and it went way better than I thought

I was nervous about using a 15% mandelic acid peel on a client with mild rosacea, but after a patch test and a slow start, her skin calmed down after two days instead of flaring up. I learned that sometimes the gentler acids can actually help with redness if you go slow and skip the usual pre-peel exfoliation. Has anyone else had good luck with mandelic for sensitive types?

Are you sure that's a good idea long term? Mandelic acid can still be a big trigger, and one good result doesn't mean it's safe. You might have just gotten lucky with that one client.

Ugh, miles has a point though. I was just reading a whole thread where people said mandelic acid was their holy grail for months and then it suddenly caused a huge flare out of nowhere. It's so sneaky like that. One good result really doesn't mean your skin won't turn on it later. I'd be way too scared to keep using it regularly after hearing those stories.

Glad it worked out... skipping the pre-exfoliation is key for reactive skin.
