Serious question about the 'clean beauty' label. I just read a study from the University of Oregon that found only 11% of products marketed as 'clean' had any third-party certification to back up the claim. Where do you all stand on this?

That 11% number from Oregon is pretty wild, but honestly not surprising. My own bathroom cabinet is a monument to this, full of "clean" bottles I bought because the packaging looked nice and leafy. I'm basically the target market for that fancy sticker, which is a little embarrassing to admit. At this point I just assume it's a vibe, not a real standard.

Remember my friend's "clean" face wash that gave her a rash?

That label is basically just marketing fluff now. My cousin works in cosmetics and says the word "clean" has zero legal meaning for products. Feels like we're all just paying extra for a fancy sticker.
