My neighbor's smart lock let a delivery guy in while they were on vacation
I was dropping off a package in Portland last week and saw a delivery person from another company walk right up to a door, tap their phone, and go inside. The homeowners were away for two weeks. It turned out their smart lock had a glitch that shared a one time code with the wrong delivery service. I called them to check, and they had no idea. How do we stop these systems from giving out access without the owner knowing?

Worry less about the tech glitch and more about the legal mess this creates. If that delivery person had tripped inside or taken something, insurance companies would be fighting for years over who's at fault. The real fix is making these companies legally responsible when their software fails, not just sending a sorry email after the fact.

Can you imagine how scary that would be? It's a huge failure of the system to not tell the homeowner right away. They really need to fix these silent errors.
