Rant: Saw a 'smart' park bench in Chicago tracking people's weight

Honestly, it was at Millennium Park and it had a tiny screen showing a number when you sat down. How is that data being used and who even asked for this?

The creepiest part is how it normalizes being watched. We just accept these little data grabs because they're wrapped in "smart city" tech. What if that bench starts adjusting insurance rates or public health ads based on the numbers it collects? It's a foot in the door for way bigger problems.
