Remember when you could just buy a phone and own it?
Found my old flip phone from 2005 in a box last week. It just worked, no updates, no tracking. Now my new one feels like a rental with all the data it pulls. Anyone else feel like we traded ownership for convenience?

That part about building a whole profile really hits home. I see it with my kids, where ads follow them for a thing they only talked about near a phone. It's not just phones either, it's that same pattern with smart tvs and even some cars now. We brought these devices into our homes but sometimes it feels like they brought a whole marketing team with them.

Ever wonder what they do with all that data?

Wait until you hear they can track your exact location from old photos, @claire_walker. That data isn't just sitting in a folder somewhere. They build a whole profile to guess what you'll buy or even how you'll vote. It's wild how much they can figure out from what seems like nothing. Honestly gives me the creeps lol. Makes you want to throw your phone in a lake sometimes.
