Serious question, why don't more people opt out of their smart TV tracking?

I finally got around to going through all the privacy settings on my LG TV last month after a buddy in Seattle told me it was basically spying on me for ad companies. The before and after was wild - my home screen went from showing me targeted recommendations for stuff I'd whispered near my phone to just random generic apps I never use. Took me about 20 minutes to dig through 3 different menus to disable the ACR (automatic content recognition) and marketing stuff. I swear my YouTube ads dropped by like half too, or maybe that's just placebo. Has anyone else gone full privacy mode on their TV and noticed a real difference in what gets suggested to you?

Right? I did the same thing on my Sony last year and now my recommendations are just nonsense instead of creepily accurate.

Now it just shows me random movie trailers from 2017.
