Update: I used to think letting a facial recognition app scan my photos was fine for the cool filters, but after reading that Vice article about how the data gets sold to third-party analytics firms, I deleted the app and spent an hour trying to revoke its permissions.

Has anyone else found a decent photo editing app that doesn't require that kind of deep access to your whole camera roll?

I get what king.derek is saying about built-in editors, but I mean, they're pretty limited. I use Snapseed for most stuff, it's free and only asks for access to the specific photo you're working on. It doesn't need to dig through your whole library.

Try using the built-in phone editor first.

Built-in editors are usually fine for basic stuff. You only need the fancy apps for serious editing.
