That '5 second rule' is total garbage - I tested it
I dropped a slice of pepperoni pizza on my kitchen floor last week and decided to actually time it against my phone. Turns out, even after 3 seconds the cheese was covered in visible dust and what I'm pretty sure was dog hair. I looked it up after, and some food scientist at Clemson found that bacteria can transfer to wet food in under 1 second. So basically, that whole myth is just wishful thinking for people who don't want to waste a snack. Has anyone else actually looked at the floor after dropping something and regretted even thinking about the 5 second rule?

Dropped a grape under the table once and grabbed it in like 2 seconds. Looked close and there was a whole cat hair stuck to the wet part where it hit the floor. Now I just vacuum more often and keep a clean towel in the kitchen specifically for quick wipe ups. That way if something drops I can rinse it off fast without feeling gross about it. Still won't eat floor pizza though, thats a lost cause.

Used to think it was real till I saw the crumbs on my floor.

The crumbs on my floor could be from ANYTHING though. Maybe you walked through the kitchen after your kid dropped a cracker. Or maybe it was just dust bunnies that looked like crumbs in dim lighting. This whole conspiracy thing has people seeing evidence in EVERY little thing now. Next youll be telling me the cat is faking her purrs too.
