Question about getting a specific shade of olive green dye to stick to linen

It took me 12 separate dye baths over three weeks to finally get that perfect, muted olive color to hold on a linen jacket without washing out, has anyone else fought with natural fibers like this?

Exactly. I tried to force a simple fix last week and it just blew up in my face. Had to go through three different workarounds that took all day, when the "right" way should have taken ten minutes. Some systems are just built with no good options.
