Just saw a fence line in Oak Park that's going to be a problem in a year

I was driving through Oak Park yesterday and passed a new residential fence install. They used those cheap, thin cedar pickets you see at the big box stores, but the real issue was the post spacing. They had a full 8-foot panel between each post. With that soft wood and no center support, the whole section is already starting to bow in the middle. I could see a clear dip from the road. Has anyone else run into this and had to fix it later?

My uncle had the same thing happen with his fence in River Forest. He told me the contractor saved money by skipping the middle posts. By the second winter, three panels had snapped at the center from the snow load. He ended up having to pour new concrete and reset the whole line.

That River Forest winter is no joke. My cousin's fence in Oak Park did the same thing after one heavy ice storm. Cutting corners on posts always comes back to bite you.

My buddy's fence in Elmwood Park had that exact issue. Honestly mila631, tell your uncle to space posts every 6 feet max, anything wider just can't handle the weight.
